Dictionary

EC50:

EC50 value is the statistically derived estimate of a concentration of a substance resulting in 50% effect reduction within a specified time; decreasing EC50 values are indicating higher toxicity.12

Ecotoxicology:
ecotoxicology is a spezialized area within toxicology and is the study of the fate of toxic substances and their effects on an ecosystem; ecotoxicology builds on the science of toxicology and the principles of toxicologic testing, although its emphasis is more on the population, community, and ecosystem level.12

Electrochemical window:
the electrochemical window is the range within which cations and anions are inert toward electrochemical oxidation and reduction.19

Green Chemistry:
Green chemistry is the use of chemistry for pollution prevention or, more specifically, is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.14

LC50:
LC50 value is the statistically derived estimate of a concentration of a substance resulting in death of 50% individuals by a predetermined time; decreasing LC50 values are indicating higher toxicity.12

Nanostructure:
nano-structured material can be defined as materials with atoms arranged in nanosized clusters, which become the constituent grains or building blocks of the material.6

Polar solvent:
the simplest qualitative definition is that a polar solvent is one that will dissolve and stabilize dipolar or charged solutes.3

Toxicology:
toxicology is the study of adverse effects of  xenobiotics on living systems.12
